bullet  General Notes:

Tony Davy 20/8/2019:
Dad went to Dame Alice Owen's School in Islington. He did well and matriculated but was not able to stay on and apply for university because of family circumstances. It was not something that working class kids in N London did and he was expected to earn some money. Especially as brother Len (4 years younger) was coming on behind. He did go to Hornsey Art College for a couple of years and learned to draw extremely proficiently. About this time the WWII started and he joined the RAF as a wireless officer, learning about electronics. After demob he found work drawing cartoon films. Joining the Rank Organisation at Moor Hall in Cookham is what took them to Maidenhead. Then he joined a 'startup' in Maidenhead, Griffin Animations, that made cartoon advertisements for cinema and newly emerging commercial TV. Pat Griffin, the principal embezzled the money and ran off to New Zealand. Unemployed and with a family to support, Dad fell back on his RAF training and got a more secure job as a Technical Author, writing handbooks for missile systems etc. with a company called Technivision in Braywick Road, Maidenhead. Eventually he transferred to similar work with BTR/Plessey, where Mum was working. He was successively a Technical Administrator and Technical manager there until his retirement in 1981.
