   Cause of his death was Chonic Rheumatism with abscesses, 1 year haemoptysis (coughing up blood).

At the time his residence was Tralee, Kerry, Ireland, age 43 (born 1807 or 1808). The examination results state "declining health and deafness from age and long service". He was "found unfit for further service". He had spent 5 years 7 months in 72^nd and 19 years 11 months in 90^th. He was awarded a permanent pension of £0. 1s 2d (per week?) to commence on 23/8/1851. Edward was discharged from service on 20/5/1851 at Cork, age 43 years 3 months. Discharge form states: " Hair brown, eyes grey, complexion fresh, height 5 feet 7.75inches, trade labourer. "Intended place of residence Dublin".

Edward married Emma Smith, daughter of Thomas Smith and Susan Gilbert. (Emma Smith was born about 1832 in Cheltenham, England,¹⁸⁶ died on 31 Oct 1897 in Wavertree, Liverpool, UK ²⁰⁴ and was buried on 4 Nov 1897 in Toxeth Park Cemetery, Liverpool, England ²¹¹.). The cause of her death was Malignant disease of stomach 6 months.
