• Retirement: discharged from army, 20 May 1851, Ireland. 100 Chelsea hospital pension records show that he was examined for pension at Kilmainham Hospital (Dublin) on 28/7/1851. At the time his residence was Tralee, Kerry, Ireland, age 43 (born 1807 or 1808). The examination results state "declining health and deafness from age and long service". He was "found unfit for further service". He had spent 5 years 7 months in 72nd and 19 years 11 months in 90th. He was awarded a permanent pension of £0. 1s 2d (per week?) to commence on 23/8/1851. Edward was discharged from service on 20/5/1851 at Cork, age 43 years 3 months. Discharge form states: " Hair brown, eyes grey, complexion fresh, height 5 feet 7.75inches, trade labourer. "Intended place of residence Dublin".
