Use active verbs

Today I have been learning how to improve my writing skills. In the Writing Challenge, Lynn teaches us to use active verbs. They trigger the reader’s mind to visualise action.

Take the first sentence in the previous paragraph as an example: “Today I have been learning how to improve my writing skills.”

Writing with an active verb makes it: “Today I learnt how to improve my writing skills.” It’s more active, shorter and easier to read.

Using active verbs doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m used to writing business documents which are more formal and use the passive verb form.
